Title protection and reserved activities
Two kinds of rule protect the public. A protected title stops unregistered people from calling themselves something. A reserved activity stops them from doing something. The GOV.UK Regulated Professions Register records both. For architects it lists the protected title architect and says there are no reserved activities, with restrictions applying to the use of title only 4. For solicitors it lists five reserved activities under the Legal Services Act 2007 as well as title protection 3.
